Note this trip may be an add on the Just Imagine Vacations, Inc and WaterARTS Fitness International Certification Trip! Which begins November 5th.
Sample Itinerary – subject to change
Day One - Monday, November, 10th – Arrive Cancun Airport. Transportation will pick you up and transport you to Akumal. You will have time to get settled in and make yourselves at home. Enjoy a stroll on the beach, snorkel in the calm bay or relax by the pool.
Day Two – Tuesday, November 11th – Wake up to sound of tropical birds, take a walk along the beach as the sun rises, enjoy breakfast and then join the WaterARTS folks for a 10:00 Finning Fun Session at Yal Ku Lagoon. The rest of your day you can sign up for a side trip, relax at one of Akumal's 3 great water spots; Yal-Ku Lagoon, Half Moon Bay or Akumal Bay.
Day Three – Wednesday, November 12th – Say good-bye to those new WaterARTS friends who have to leave. Grab some breakfast and get ready to hop on the vans and head to the state of Yucatan. We will check into a hotel at the world-famous Chichen Itza, one of the modern Wonders of the World. You will explore the ruins and have the opportunity to do the night show if you wish.
Day Four – Thursday, November 13th – You can take an early morning stroll back into the ruins but don't miss the bus cause our adventure is about to take us to Merida – one of the finest Colonial Cities this side of Spain! We will meet our hostess, Kahki who has planned an incredible tour of the Merida, the surrounding area and she has included some of the best restaurants, shopping, museums and cultural events. Afternoon: Calle 60 Stroll Night: Dinner at Peregrina followed by a Concert – Classical Thursday. Thursday is the busiest night of the week in Merida, so we may end up with 3 or 4 "must see" shows
Day Five – Friday, November 14th – Merida
Morning: Cholul Artisans & church
Afternoon: Artisans in Mall, Mayan Xic
Night: La Hach, carriage ride, Vaqueria @ UADY. Dinner at Fiesta Americana and then to their spectacular La Hach Bar for a cocktail party of expats... this is First Friday... GREAT way to meet expats and ask questions... then a carriage ride back down Paseo Montejo, which is GEORGEOUS at night! we probably won't make it back for the folkloric ballet at UADY (because the second story balcony at La Hach is a destination all its own), but - if anybody still wants to walk over - we can still catch part of the FREE concert in Parque de la Ermita de Santa Isabel called "Noches Romanticas" - tons of guitars and groups - some famous - they come there to try out new songs on the audience... the only "rule" is that the music must be "romantic" - they've got a gazebo bandstand - the works.
Day Six – Saturday, November 15th – Will be a fun-packed day of adventure. We will start with a quick breakfast at the hotel and then head to
San Cristano for a beautiful birding tour by boat. After our tour we will head on to Progreso for lunch on the Gulf of Mexico.
Return to your hotel and have a nice siesta and relax for the evening ahead.
We'll have dinner on Saturday night at Amaro's. After dinner entertainment will be provided by the City Council of Merida. Noche Mexicana and/or En El Corazon de Merida. Our hotel is exactly between the two. You MUST see En El Corazon de Merida. This is where you want to do your shopping - GREAT prices - and there are live bands on stages all around the Plaza Grande - salsa, trova, jazz - the works! from 9:00 PM til 2:00 AM and its all free entertainment. The cafes and hotels put all of their tables in the streets and everybody just enjoys the night and the music.
Day Seven – Sunday, November 16th – Merida in the morning, head back to Akumal by sunset.
Morning: Bici-Ruta, Merida en Domingo, Art on the
Street, photo opp. at corner of Science and
Intelligence
