Tulum

Tulum was a site of main importance between 1,000-1,600, especially for the elite of the Maya world. It's original Mayan name was Zama which means "place of the dawning sun."

There is a lovely beach right at the ruins so you may want to wear a bathing suit and a cover up. Bring bottled water and sunscreen. Guides are available to maximize your experience. At the entrance there are lots of shops that sell souvenirs.
