The Riviera Maya, also known as the Mayan Riviera, stretches from Cancun to the Sian Ka'an Biosphere, south of Tulum. It is located on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula in the state of Quintana Roo. Just off shore is the northern section of the Mesoamerican Coral Reef which is the second longest coral reef in the world. In addition to the white sandy beaches and crystal clear water, there is a network of underground caves and rivers lacing through miles upon miles of lush tropical jungle and many Mayan archaeological sites.
